Hi guys

I started cycling 4-5 weeks ago and it is making me feel so much better!

I suffer from fatigue a lot less than I did and I seem to be able to cope with joint pain much better, plus it makes me feel generally in a better mood.

I checked with my RA nurse first and she said it was a really good exercise as there is minimal strain on the joints, and she encouraged me to do it regularly.

I even managed to do 30.9 miles last Saturday, all be it all the hills nearly killed me lol.

I just wanted to share my joy at finding something they help and that I now absolutely love BigGrin

Hi Amy

It's so good to hear you have found so much joy and benefit from cycling.

Cycling was my favourite hobby before this R.A disease, I always felt so uplifted after a ride, unfortunately I became too ill 12years ago to continue with it. I just watch it on the tv now, I have really enjoyed watching all the cycling in the Olympics and Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France was monumental.

Keep those wheels turning Amy...
Best wishes
Rebecca

Hi Amy - brilliant to hear that you're enjoying cycling. I must say that I'm tempted by it all - especially now that I've seen these electric bikes - as you pedal it charges a little battry which powers a motor to help on the uphills - that sounds ace to me as I live in Devon which is all hills! I must find out how expensive they are ...

That sounds brilliant Amy. Exercise is good for RA if you can manage it. I think often we don't/can't do enough and our muscles get weakened which only makes things worse. If it's helping the fatigue too then that's a bonus. Best wishes from Naomi.

I used to cycle a few years ago and enjoyed it. Since being diagnosed with RA in September 2010 I hadn't done any exercise until April this year when I started swimming and I am really loving it. I go three times a week and I also feel so much better for doing some regular exercise.

Hi Amy, I have recently bought a pedalec bike and it's great! I love having the feeling of the wind in my hair again! Highly recommend these bikes as they take the strain and you can do as much or as little as you can. If you're anything like me - it can vary from day to day as to how much you can do.....Enjoy your bike Amy, good for you! LOL
